  • "Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You. I will praise You as long as I live, and in Your name I will lift up my hands." ~ Psalm 63

We praise You with our lips because Your love wells up in us and overflows from our hearts to our mouths! It satisfies and completes us like nothing else in this life! We lift up our hands to You, Lord, because we want to hug You, we want to surrender to you, we want to reach up to You for help, and we want to lift up and exalt Your name on high! You're so worthy, so wonderful- my Lord and my God! Amen?

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." ~ Proverbs 9

We will only learn from those we are convinced have the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding we lack. Until we become convinced, firmly assured that Yahweh alone is God, is all-knowing, all-understanding, all-wise, all-powerful, and all-loving- we will not seek Him, pray to Him, praise Him, or trust him. Are you convinced yet?

"So they will put My name on the Israelites, and I will bless them." ~ Numbers 6

When You adopt us, Father, we take on Your name. What a joy and honor! What a privilege and responsibility! Holy is Your name! Holy are we to be! Loving is Your name! Loving are we to be! Righteous...just...faithful...true....

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." ~ Jeremiah 1

What eternal knowledge! What personal love! What peace in realizing our purpose! Have you heard from the Lord concerning your appointment and purpose, your gifts and abilities for His kingdom?

"And the second (greatest commandment) is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' " ~ Matthew 22

From the question, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus answered with the parable of the good Samaritan- informing us that any person the Lord puts in our path who is in need- is our neighbor. Love does what is best for the one we are loving, at a cost and sacrifice to us!

"Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting." ~ Acts 2

Mighty are You, Spirit of God! Creating force of the universe! Powerful beyond our comprehension! You desire to empower us at witnesses of the truth of Christ- to testify boldly and courageously through us! Please bring it on!

"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." ~ 1 Corinthians 3

If our faith rests on any other- it is missing the truth, the way, and the life You, Lord, have provided for us. You alone are the Rock of our Salvation!

"By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God." ~ Hebrews 11

You not only design and build our eternal home- but Your very nature and character are its foundation! You  not only author and finish our faith- but You are the object and source of it! Truly our all in all!

  • "O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You, my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." ~ Psalm 63

As our body needs water to live and produce- so our soul needs Living Water to live in you and be fruitful, Lord Jesus. Just as our body craves water in desert conditions- so our soul longs for Your Spirit to satisfy our need for Your Presence in us! Thank You for quenching our thirst when we sincerely seek You in faith! May we realize the spring within and drink continually!

"Do no swerve to the right or to the left; keep your foot from evil." ~ Proverbs 4

We swerve when we fix our eyes on something off the road we are traveling on. The devil desires to distract us from following Christ on the narrow road- so he will try to divert our attention to anything that might draw our eyes away. If our eyes are diverted too long, then our thoughts will follow and our direction will be detoured off the path of righteousness and highway of holiness. Communion keeps us connected to Christ!

"When a man or woman wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the Lord, that person is guilty and must confess the sin he has committed. He must make full restitution for his wrong, and one fifth to it and give it to the person he has wronged." ~ Numbers 5

Just think how much emotional damage could be avoided and how much healing could take place if we practiced this!

..." 'All mankind will come and bow down before Me,' says the Lord. ' And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebeled against Me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.' " ~ Isaiah 66

Those who repent of their rebellion against God are reconciled in Christ. Those who refuse to repent and persist in rebellion are rewarded with what they want- separation from God (spiritually and physically.)

" 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?'  Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. this is the first and greatest commandment.' " ~ Matthew 22

To love God with all our mind we need to: Let go of the lies of Satan and hold on to the truth of Christ. To love God with all our soul we need to: Own our identity and adoption in Christ and choose to live a consecrated life. To love God with all our heart we need to: Value God's love, mercy and grace by maintaining a pure heart through thanksgiving, humility, and obedience. To love God with all our strength we need to: Express our love and devotion by consistently communing with God through talking, listening, and following in faith.

"Then they prayed, ' Lord, You know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two You have chosen t o take over this apostolic ministry '... "  ~ Acts 1

May we seek You, Lord, in our decisions- because You alone know everyone's heart, and You alone know the future and what is best!

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." ~ 1 Corinthians 3

How often we seek after the favor and praise of people. Forgive us, Lord, for stealing glory that is not truly ours anyway!

" By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith." ~ Hebrews 11

Holy fear is part of faith. God's holiness is totally beyond anything we can comprehend, as is His power and knowledge! We need to have a heart attitude of awe, humility, reverence, and fear!

  • "One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard; that You O God, are strong, and that You, O Lord, are loving." ~ Psalm 62

Two huge revelations of God's nature that answer two huge requirements of our need: strength to save us from self, sin, and Satan... and love to provide us with peace, power and purpose!

"Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord, since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes." ~ Proverbs 1

The Lord will give us knowledge and understanding, insight and wisdom, instruction and correction- if we choose to Fall on our knees before the Lord, Express our dependence upon the Lord, Acknowledge the sovereignty of the Lord, Revere and trust in the Lord.

"The Levites are to be Mine. I am the Lord." ~Numbers 3

In Christ, "the called out ones" are all Yours, Lord God. We are all part of Your holy priesthood and service- with You, Lord Jesus, as our High Priest! We are not our own, but Yours!

"As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you..." ~ Isaiah 66

Lord God, You are both Father and Mother to us, Your People. The best and purest form of Fatherhood and Motherhood, maleness and femaleness- complete and perfect love- are You!

"You are in error because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God." ~ Matthew 22

Faith is established through experiencing the truth of God's Word and the proof of God's power! And with faith as our foundation- we are given wisdom, understanding, knowledge and righteousness to build our life with Christ Jesus! Such gifts!

"Brothers, the scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David..."       ~ Acts 1

Scriptures have to be fulfilled- because You cannot lie! Scriptures are true- because You have spoken them into being through Your servants! Hallelujah!

"What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe- as the Lord has assigned to each his task."    ~ 1 Corinthians 3

What is your task at this time in the life the Lord has given you? Seek Him for it- His presence, His power, His purpose! Be glorified Lord Jesus!

"All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promise; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance." ~ Hebrews 11

Faith is being certain of what has been secured yet not seen, revealed yet not received, deposited yet not delivered. Firm Assurance In Trusting Him!

  • ..."Though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them."  ~ Psalm 62

Where our treasure is, that is where our heart is also. The world would have us treasure material things over spiritual things: wealth over wisdom, clothing over character, career over calling, houses over holiness, stuff over salvation, riches over righteousness. May our present economic earthquake shake up our heart's priorities!

"Two things I ask of You, O Lord; do not refuse me before I die: keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown You and say, 'Who is the Lord?' or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God." ~ Proverbs 30

Tow huge tests we must all face in the days ahead:

    1) To hold on to the truth of scripture (as most clearly revealed in Christ) when lies are what is popular and accepted.

    2) To be thankful and content and generous no matter what our financial condition (honoring the Lord as the source and provider of all that is good.)

"So the Israelites did everything the Lord commanded Moses; that is the way they encamped under their standards, and that is the way they set out, each with his clan and family." ~ Numbers 2

If you designed the standard (banner, pennant) for your family, what would it look like?

"This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My word." ~ Isaiah 66

A heart that is humble can house You, Holy Spirit! A spirit that is contrite can conform to You, O Christ! A soul that fears You, Father, can be fulfilled!

"But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 'Friend,' he asked, 'How did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless. Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' For many are invited, but few are chosen." ~ Matthew 22

To be chosen is to be convicted about changing our clothes- our foul smelling, filthy rags stained with sin and stinking of self. Also to be convinced about our need to put on the clothing of Christ- righteous, holy, clean and beautifully fragrant to God!

"They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers." ~ Acts 1

Prayer prepares us for God's promises to be fulfilled in us. The more prayer in unity with devoted disciples- the more prepared we become for the Holy Spirit to witness through us!

"I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly?" ~ 1 Corinthians 3

If we do not live out what we learn, practice what we proclaim, respond to what is revealed to us- then we are hearers only, not doers of the word- mere infants spiritually! Our actions and behavior display our loyalty and obedience (or lack thereof) to our Lord and God.

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." ~ Hebrews 11

Faith is received through revelation from God. Faith is released through rightly responding to God.

  • "Pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge."  ~ Psalm 62

We can pour out our hearts to You because- You understand our humanity, You know our hearts, You feel our hurts! And- You can be trusted to treat our cries with compassion, our cares with concern, and our confession with cleansing!

"Fear of man will proves to be a snare, but whoever trust in the Lord is kept safe." ~ Proverbs 29

To fear is to- Forget Every Almighty Reassurance. Instead, we hold on to worldly lies and false reality feelings- keeping us snared from walking in faith and following You, Lord Jesus.

"If you remain hostile toward Me and refuse to listen to Me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve." ~ Leviticus 26

If we reject Your loving correction, warnings, wisdom, and guidance- we also reject Your loving presence, protection, provision, and peace. We suffer the consequences of our idolatry and sin- forfeiting Your covenant blessing and life.

"But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy." Isaiah 65

Your bride, King Jesus, Your people, Your city, Your delight and joy! Our home will be with you forever! Joy unspeakable!

"Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find." ~ Matthew 22

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has planned for those who love Him. Let's share the great news- making the most of every opportunity!

"This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into Heaven, will comeback int he same way you have seen Him go into Heaven." ~ Acts 1

You, the resurrected and ascended Lord Jesus, will come back visibly in the clouds! Hallelujah!

"But we have the mind of Christ." ~ 1 Corinthians 2

Through your Spirit, Lord, we can have Your thoughts on the matters that you want us to deal with. What a blessing! May we seek Your mind on our matters and act accordingly!

"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." ~ Hebrews 11

True science will confirm true reality. Do not doubt God's revealed understanding of creation to us.
